Rudy Franco

Rudy Franco is a dedicated trainer and practitioner of all things Martial and Combative Arts, related from long rifle, to close quarter empty hands and all ranges in between. Rudy has been a practitioner of Japanese Combat Jujutsu for more than 25 years and of the Filipino Fighting methods for over 20 years. Growing up in a hostile environment taught Rudy at a very young age to be aware of real

violence and violent people. This starting with Rudy’s informal instruction. Rudy gives credit to his family members starting with his grandfather, who taught him the basics of YMCA Boxing, to one of his

uncle’s who taught him rudimentary fighting methods of the USMC and to another uncle who taught him to respect and understand the fundamentals of safe firearms usage. Rudy has been steered toward

self-defense/preservation all his life. In between informal and Rudy’s formal training in the arts, life presented fighting challenges that Rudy did not always overcome. It did leave a mark both physically and mentally with Rudy. This lead Rudy into his foundational training, starting with Shito-Ryu Karate-Do.This is where Rudy met his first serious mentor, Shihan Hassam Jaffo, from Damascus, Syria. Jaffo was a black belt in both Karate and Judo. While Jaffo observed Rudy practicing kata forms, Jaffo approached Rudy with his broken English and told Rudy he was terrible with Karate and had he ever considered Kodokan Judo? Rudy never considered anything outside of Chuck Norris type training, but was young and very inquisitive of the martial arts. Rudy studied with Shihan Jaffo for 3.5 years before he was going home to get married. Before Jaffo left, he advised Rudy to look into Jujutsu due to its combative nature. This was a several years earlier before the Gracies and Jiu-jitsu explosion. Rudy was very fortunate to find an instructor in the city he lived in, which was a mere two miles from his home. For the next 17 years, Rudy trained and was able to travel the world with his instructor in Combat Jujutsu/Kali Kaiden, Guro Lloyd Kennedy. Upon receiving his black belt, Rudy requested his teacher to train him in the art of teaching martial methods. In Rudy’s quest for knowledge, he visited over 300 training halls all over the world, no matter the system or style. This has given Rudy the ability to recognize that all methods have merit as long as they have a solid foundation. While continuing his training, Rudy came across Guro Roger Agbulos, of Astig Lameco System. Rudy was told by his instructor who saw the abilities and training method of Guro Roger Agbulos, that he should start training in Lameco. Rudy began his training in the Astig Lameco System in 2006 and continues to this day. Rudy was also able to meet and train with Kyoshi Avi Nardia in 2006. Kyoshi Avi Nardia is the founder of Israeli Jiu Jitsu and Kapap Krav Maga. Avi Nardia become one of a very few ranked practitioners in the United States. Rudy currently holds the rank of Senior “Guro “ in Astig Lameco and “Shihan” in Combat Jujutsu. Rudy is also an expert

and a subject matter trainer, on close quarter combat grappling. Rudy also has over 9 years of Jeet Kune Do training, with an emphasis on JKD trapping to grappling. Rudy has had the pleasure to train all types of people and students, both nationally and internationally, via class, group session and seminars. Rudy is pleased to now be a part of Guro Sherman’s Inland Empire Fighting Systems and looks forward to everyone coming to visit and train at the facility.
